How to get more Amazon reviews without breaking the rules

Updated October 31, 2026 · 6 min read

Most buyers never leave a review, not because they're unhappy but because nobody asked at the right time and the product didn't make them feel cared for. You can fix both without bending a single rule.

1. Use Amazon's own "Request a Review" button for every order

In Seller Central, every order has a Request a Review button. Amazon sends a standard message asking for a product review and seller feedback, in the buyer's language. You can use it once per order, between 5 and 30 days after delivery. It's 100% within the rules because Amazon writes and sends it.

The catch: clicking it for every order by hand is tedious. Tools that press the button automatically for every shipped order (not only the happy ones) are allowed. Kartzo's Amazon connection does exactly that, on a schedule you choose.

2. Make the first 10 minutes great

Reviews follow experience. The moment a buyer opens the box is when they decide how they feel. A clear setup video, a quick-start card and an easy way to get help prevent the frustrated 2-star review that starts with "couldn't figure out how to…". A Kartzo card puts your setup video one scan away, per product.

3. Catch problems before they become reviews

A buyer with a problem who can reach you in 30 seconds is far less likely to vent publicly. Give them a fast path to help. This is customer service, not review gating, as long as you don't hide the review invitation from unhappy buyers.

4. Invite everyone, the same way

If you invite reviews on your own page, use neutral wording for everyone: "Other shoppers rely on honest reviews, good or bad. It's completely up to you." Never filter who sees it, never mention stars, never attach a reward.

5. Amazon Vine for new products

Brand-registered sellers can enroll new products in Amazon Vine, where trusted reviewers receive the product free and post honest reviews. It is the only free-product-for-review program Amazon allows.

What gets accounts suspended

  • Free products, refunds or gifts in exchange for reviews (outside Vine)
  • Asking only happy customers to review (review gating)
  • Asking friends, family or employees to review
  • Asking buyers to change or remove a negative review
  • Buying reviews or using review clubs

The U.S. FTC's 2024 rule on fake reviews also makes incentives conditioned on a positive (or negative) review illegal, with civil penalties for knowing violators.

The honest flywheel

  1. Great product page that sets the right expectations.
  2. An insert card that helps buyers set up and register.
  3. Fast, friendly support for anyone who needs it.
  4. Amazon's Request a Review for every order.
  5. Read the private feedback and improve the product.
